Solid Book on Investment Analysis:
This is an excellent book on Investment Analysis and one of the best books recommended by the CFA Institute for its curriculum. I commend the authors for providing a solid foundation (chapters 1-9 on the Investment Background and Theory) before moving on to the heart of this book, namely security analysis (stocks, bonds and derivatives). Bland:
I am enrolled in a masters level quantitative finance program and we use this text for an intro class. I found the portfolio management sections to be pretty good and the bonds and derivatives sections to be pretty weak. Furthermore, the important information in the book does not seem to clearly presented; you really have to dig through the text to get the relevant points. I guess all the important stuff is in the book, it's just hard to find. The book is big on theory and small on practical application.... more info
